The author, Dr. Barbara Dydyk, is a clinical psychologist and a family therapist with over thirty years experience working with children, couples and families. Dr. Dydyk received her doctoral training at Loyola University of Chicago and a post-doctoral degree from McMaster University and Chedoke Child and Family Centre in Hamilton, Ontario. She also completed an internship and advanced internship at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Centre. Dr. Dydyk developed the INTERFACE Service at Thistletown Regional Centre in Toronto, an innovative family-focused service for troubled children and their families. She also researched and developed a unit that admitted whole families for intensive assessment and treatment. Dr. Dydyk currently consults to a number of treatment services in the Toronto area and has an active private practice.
She is herself divorced and thereby appreciates the struggles and the intense emotions that women experience as they negotiate the separation and divorce process.

Very basic information that is really just common sense with stories that are all too common with predictable outcomes. I need solid advice and ideas to break through the shock and heartbreak that I was not equipped for. I still love him and find that I forgive the most dastardly acts. I have not followed my own advice and am an absolute hypocrite for thinking he will bounce to the wonderful man I married, my dreamboat, my love. I find that I’m stuck in love with his potential and not who he’s become. I need reasoning and understanding, in a theoretical sense. So, I chose the wrong book. The one star is because it took about an hour to read and like I said I need solid, new information that would give me something to think about and in a new direction. That is all. I was going through a difficult separation with my husband and needed some advice. I wasn't comfortable going to a psychologist, so I picked up this book. It offered some really good insights and helped me stay clear headed and strong. I definitely recommend this book!
